Here's why Honey Singh was not happy with Lungi dance
23:14 |
Yo Yo Honey is a hugely popular name on the Indian music scene today.
Nobody can dispute that. The singer has found acceptance across
different age groups and is also in great demand for special tracks in
Bollywood films.
The 29-year-old rapper recently shot a promotional song Partying with the Bhootnath at Ayush Resort in Panvel along with none other than superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
The actor whose last Bollywood hit Lungi dance is still a rage across nightclubs in India says, "I have come up the hard way and have had to face a lot of struggle abroad. In foreign countries people have a very fixed notion about the kind of music that comes from India. They think we are capable of nothing else besides routine Bollywood stuff."
He adds, "I haven't achieved even half of what I want to with music. My song Lungi dance had the potential to go global in a big way. It could have become a rage just like Gangnam style but then the makers of the film (Chennai Express) had a different plan for it. Finally, it did not shape up the way I had envisioned it. With what I had in mind, I wanted to show the goras that our music is not just Bollywood. There is more to our music."
For now Honey Singh is happy that he got a chance to perform with Amitabh Bachchan in Bhootnath Returns for the promotional track Partying with the Bhootnath.

Shraddha Kapoor to replace Nargis Fakhri in Shaukeen remake?
23:10 |
Actress Shraddha Kapoor is likely to step in the shoes of noted actress Rati Agnihotri for the remake of 'Shaukeen'.
For the remake of Basu Chatterjee's 1982 hit film, the makers are looking for a new leading lady after Nargis Fakhri walked out citing date issues.
The makers are in talks with Shraddha for the role. The original film revolved around three old men - Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and AK Hangal - who try to impress a young dancer - Rati Agnihotri. In the original film, Mithun Chakraborty played the role of Rati's boyfriend.
Now, Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Anupam Kher will be reprising the roles of the three old men while Akshay Kumar will step into the shoes of Mithun Chakraborty.
"Talks are on with Shraddha but nothing is finalised," sources told PTI, without divulging any further information.
Earlier the film was to be directed by Rumi Jaffrey, who directed 'God Tussi Great Ho'. Later Abhishek Sharma of 'Tere Bin Laden' fame replaced him.
The film is scheduled to go on floors in April. Apparently, Nargis Fakhri was being approached for a Hollywood film and she was keen on doing it. She asked the producers of 'Shaukeen' to change the schedule at the last minute which it seems was not possible for them.
"I was very excited about 'Shaukeen' and we had been preparing for a while now. There was another opportunity in the pipeline and we tried to work out the dates so that I could be a part of both but the dates were clashing. I couldn't have asked the team to wait for me, so it's heartbreaking but I had to let the film go," Nargis said.
"I was really excited to work with the team of 'Shaukeen' and Abhishek Sharma, who is a terrific director. A bond with the film and team members of 'Shaukeen' remains and I wish them all the best," she said.
